WhiteNoise Projects

In their upcoming exhibition SHIFT, thirteen contemporary artists come together to explore the concept of transformation whether in perspective, process, or material. This group exhibition challenges the boundaries of their media through painting, sculpture, textile, video, and installation.
Reflecting themes of disruption and change, SHIFT features works by eleven WHITE NOISE_PROJECTS members, each occupying an individual space. This curatorial approach allows each artist’s practice to stand alone, while also contributing to a broader collective dialogue. In a deliberate move to provoke interaction and tension, two guest artists have been invited to intervene by challenging the existing works and adding fresh perspectives to the central inquiry:
What does it mean to shift?
Each artist interprets "shift" through a distinct lens, resulting in a dynamic, thought-provoking experience that asks: What does it mean to pivot, to fracture, to evolve?
Among the many highlights:
Michael Winstone immerses viewers in a world of meta static regeneration through digital projection whilst
Jennifer Talbot presents a chromatic installation inspired by 17th- and 18th-century Rococo and Mannerist paintings. Stephen Greenberg gently challenges conventional notions of painting by using micron-thin space blankets in place of traditional canvas. Gail Sagman takes the physical space and quiet memory of the crypt as her starting point, creating up to ten large-scale rubbings that explore presence, absence, and the marks time leaves behind.
Guest artists: Erika Trotzig uses The Crypt Gallery’s architectural quirks to stage her precarious sculptural forms—nestled between aged tombstones and pre-existing structures. Eleanor Bedlow’s work carries a sense of both familiarity and otherness. The forms in her sculptures seem to be in a state of exploration. These are just a few of the compelling works on show. Each artist in SHIFT brings a bold and original approach, inviting viewers to question, reflect, and embrace the possibility of change.

Particle Zoo
3 May - 2 June 2024
With Particle Zoo Sandra Beccarelli blurs the lines between exhibition and artist residency by showing a
finished body of work alongside work in progress, with visitors playing an active role in determining the
direction of the latter.

“MOMENTUM is generally used to mean increasing forward motion. A boulder rolling down a hill gains momentum. So does a great idea, a team on a winning streak, or the economy.”
The exhibition MOMENTUM was about the constant change and evolution, both in life and within the artistic realm. The title itself reflects the speed at which our world transforms, and how artists are continuously propelled forward by this dynamic force. By exploring the physical processes involved in creating artwork, we aim to highlight the inherent momentum required to bring ideas to life. The exhibition drew parallels between the transience of life and nature, which also embody the essence of momentum.
The exhibition featured the works of eleven diverse artists, each employing unique approaches some of which utilising natural or recycled resources to create their art.
